HOUSTON, Texas — Rice volleyball head coach Genny Volpe has announced the addition of graduate transfer outside hitter Katrina Jensen for the 2024 season.
"We are extremely excited to announce the addition of Katrina Jensen to the 2024 squad," Volpe said. "Kat will add experience and scoring ability to our team right away. She led Boston College in kills last season and has years of competing in the ACC behind her. She is a true team player and fits our hard-working, positive, and competitive culture. We couldn't be happier that she chose to play her fifth season of eligibility at Rice."
Jensen joins the Owls after four seasons at Boston College where she appeared in 117 matches and 379 total sets. Jensen recorded 912 kills at BC, topping 240 kills in each of her last three years with the Eagles. In 2023, Jensen hit .253 and averaged 2.75 kills per set, adding 54.0 total blocks on the defensive side. She was named to the ACC Volleyball All-Academic team in both 2022 and 2023.
Jensen, a native of Carlsbad, California, was a four-year starter at Great Oak High School in Temecula, helping the team to the state semifinals in 2016. As a senior, Jensen served as team captain and was an all-league selection. She was also a two-year member of the Great Oak Leadership Program. Jensen also played club volleyball for four years with Forza 1 Volleyball Club and earned silver in the Junior Olympics.
