Owls in Eighth at AAC Championship

Belleair, Fla. — The Rice Golf team carded a 290 to sit 15-over par in eighth-place after two rounds of the American Athletic Conference Championship.
Junior Raghav Chugh and fifth-year senior Jay Kirchdorfer both carded one-over par 71's. Chugh is tied for 12th-place at -1 and Kirchdorfer is +5 and tied for 32nd-place.
Freshman Jaivir Pande is tied for 37th-place at +6 after posting a 75. Freshman Reggie Zhu and sophomore Lukas Boandl are tied for 41st-place +7. Zhu shot a 73 while Boandl carded a 75.
SMU and South Florida are tied for the team lead at -8, three strokes in front of Memphis. South Florida's Jake Peacock and North Texas' Tucker Allen are tied for the individual lead at -5, one stroke in front of SMU's William Sides and Charlotte's Conor Gough.

"It was a grind out there today. We were not super sharp and the course really exposes missed distances and targets. Raghav (Chugh) and Jay (Kirchdorfer) both battled on their second nine holes and helped the team in a big way. Tomorrow we'll be in a better position to make a move."

The final round begins at 7 a.m. CT, with the Owls teeing off at 8:05 from hole 10. Rice will tee off with student-athletes from Charlotte and East Carolina.
