Hill and Skopal Bring Home AAC Weekly Honors

Hill earns first major weekly award at Rice, Skopal earns third
Samarah Hill led the Rice offense to a perfect 2-0 week, which included a huge victory over then-third place Wichita State. This week, Hill posted the most individual kills in the conference (39) as well as the most kills per set at 4.88. Hill led a Rice offensive unit that posted the highest hitting percentage in the league (.281), most kills in the league (123) as well as the second-most kills per set in the league (15.38). Rice posted the most kills in a single match against Wichita State with 74, thanks in large part to Hill's 29 kills, a new career-high. Hill's 29 kills, 70 attempts, and 31.0 points were all game-highs across the league this week.
Savannah Skopal had another superb week for Rice, leading the Owls to a 2-0 week, which included a victory over Wichita State. Skopal led the entire AAC in both total assists (99) and assists per set (12.38). Skopal's passing helped Rice post a team hitting percentage of .281, which was the highest in the conference by a wide margin (the next highest was .253). Skopal also helped the Owls post the second-highest total team assists in the league at 112, as well as the most total team kills at 123, including 74 kills against Wichita State, a match where Skopal tied her career-high in assists with 61. Skopal's 61 assists were the most of any player in the AAC this week.
The Owls close out the regular season with the final two matches of the season, hosting Memphis for Senior Night on Friday night before heading to North Texas for the regular season finale.OWLS IN AAC WEEKLY HONORS
