Hill, Mansfield Earn AAC Honorable Mention

Outside hitter Samarah Hill was instrumental to Rice's 2-0 weekend, which saw the Owls remain undefeated in AAC play while knocking off Tulsa and Wichita State from the ranks of the undefeateds on the road … In the match against Tulsa, Hill notched her second double-double of the season with 17 kills and 24 digs, a career-high for the fifth year … The 17 kills were a season high, as were the 18.0 points she earned … Hill then broke both of those season-bests on Sunday with her third double-double of the season, notching 18 kills and 15 digs … She posted 20.5 points to post a new season best in that category … Hill hit .245 in both matches, posted a total of 25 kills, 39 digs, three blocks, and 38.5 points in just two matches.
Junior libero Gaby Mansfield's defense led the Owls to a 2-0 week and remaining undefeated in conference play while knocking off two other undefeated teams on the road … On Friday at Tulsa, Mansfield had three service aces, which tied a career-high set in 2023 against ECU … She also tied a career-high in digs with 19, which she also tied earlier in the season … During Sunday's five-set battle at Wichita State, Mansfield's defense was one of the main differences in the match, as her new career-high 31 digs helped propel the Owls past the Shockers … Mansfield's 50 digs in two matches saw her post an incredible 5.56 digs per set, helping Rice post a team 19.56 digs per set.
The Owls will return to action with two matches at home this week, starting on Friday against North Texas before turning to host East Carolina on Sunday.
