
Chancey, Hutchins Named AAC Honorable Mention

IRVING – The Rice soccer team saw two athletes earn weekly honors with Leah Chancey and Faith Hutchins both being named AAC Honorable Mention, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
"Faith and Leah are both having great fall seasons but are positively impacting the team off the field as well. They are both great teammates and leaders," said Rice head coach Brian Lee.
Chancey receives her fourth conference honor of the season after breaking the school record with her eighth consecutive match scoring a goal, doing so in Rice's 4-0 win over Temple last Thursday night. Her eight-match goal scoring streak is the longest active streak in NCAA DI.
Chancey currently leads the AAC in goals (9), points (20), game-winning goals (4), goals per game (0.69) and shots on goal per game (1.62). Her nine goals also ranks 15th in the NCAA.
After recording her sixth shutout of the season against Temple, Hutchins earned her fourth conference honor of the season. Hutchins has now recorded a shutout in back-to-back matches for the second time this season.
Hutchins leads the conference in save percentage (.861), goalie minutes played (1150) and is tied for the league lead in shutouts with six. Her 68 saves this season also ranks second in the AAC.
The Owls have now earned 11 weekly AAC honors on the season.
