HOUSTON — Rice golf coach Justin Emil announced on Monday the addition of Braeden Hoyt (Houston, Texas) to a national letter of intent for the 2023-24 school year.
"It's an exciting day for Rice Golf as we announce the signing of Braeden Hoyt," said Emil. "He is a fantastic young man and will be a big part of our future success as a team. Braeden is an exceptional student and accomplished golfer. Our 2023 recruiting class has been outstanding."
Hoyt has led Cypress Creek to back-to-back appearances in the UIL Golf state championship. In 2021, he finished second at the Region II-6A tournament. Last year, he earned three top 10 finishes on the American Junior Golf Association Tour (AJGA), including a tie for third-place at the Insperity Invitational/Patrick Reed AJGA Junior Championship.
He's earned 30 victories on the Southern Texas PGA Junior Golf Tour, including the Lone Star Shootout and the Alamo Shootout in 2021, helping him finish second on the STPJT's points list. Hoyt has also been excellent in the classroom, earning Academic All-District 17-6A honors last year while also being named to the AJGA's Rolex Scholastic Honor Roll.
Hoyt joins Jaivir Pande (Houston, Texas) and Reggie Zhu (Winter Garden, Fla.) in the 2023-24 recruiting class.
