
Owls Sweep Podium in 500-Yard Freestyle Versus Texas A&M

In Brief: The Owls swept the podium in the 500-yard freestyle and took home titles in the 200-yard freestyle relay and 100-yard freestyle on Tuesday in a dual meet against Texas A&M at the Rice Competition Pool. The Aggies entered the contest ranked 11th in the nation in the latest CSCAA rankings.
The Details: Rice's top showing of the day came in the 500-yard freestyle where junior Amelia Kane placed first with a time of 5:00.44. Kane was followed closely by senior Elizabeth Myers in second place with a time of 5:03.70. Graduate senior Shannon Campbell completed the Owls' sweep of the podium with a third-place finish and a time of 5:04.30. Senior Imogen Meers claimed Rice's last individual title of the day, winning the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.92. The Owls capped the dual meet by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the quartet of Meers, Myers, junior Arielle Hayon and freshman Ussishkin placed first with a time of 1:35.66. Rice finished with 91 team points as Texas A&M recorded 171 points to win the dual meet.
