Rice Swimming Dominates Time Trials Against St. Thomas (TX)

In Brief: The Owls captured 15 of 18 available titles in an unscored meet against St. Thomas (TX) on Friday at the Rice Competition Pool.
The Details: The Owls swept events in each of the breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly and individual medley events. In the backstroke, sophomore Ava Hamblett won the 50-yard, 100-yard and 200-yard events with respective times of 26.74, 57.44 and 2:04.64. Junior Arielle Hayon swept the events of the butterfly, winning the 50-yard, 100-yard and 200-yard events with times of 24.92, 55.05 and 2:03.18, respectively. Senior Imogen Meers posted wins in all three distances of the individual medley, winning the 100-yard medley with a time of 58.06, the 200-yard medley with a time of 2:04.52, and the 400-yard medley with a time of 4:25.54. In the breastrake, freshman Siiri Einio won the 50-yard and 100-yard distances with respective times of 29.27 and 1:03.89. Sophomore Mia Nagle completed the Owl sweep of the breaststroke events with a time of 2:19.73 to win the 200-yard event. In freestyle races, graduate senior Shannon Campbell posted a pair of wins, placing first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:57.10 before winning the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.32. Sophomore Ella Dyson posted the final title for Rice, winning the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:07.61.
