Owls Set for Weekend Action in Dallas

Triple dual features North Texas, SMU and Tulane
In Brief: Seth Huston's Rice Owls return to action this weekend by traveling to Dallas to meet North Texas, Tulane and host SMU in a two-day triple dual meet at the Mustangs' Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium. The competition begins at 5 p.m. on Friday and wraps on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The Schedule:
Friday: 400 Medley Relay, 1000 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly, 100 Backstroke, 100 Breaststroke, 3 M Diving, 200 Freestyle, 50 Freestyle. 400 IM. 400 Freestyle Relay.
Saturday: 200 Medley Relay, 500 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke, 200 Backstroke, 1 M Diving, 100 Freestyle, 200 Butterfly, 200 IM, 200 Freestyle Relay

Notable:
- Rice and North Texas are competing in The American Athletic Conference as affiliate members in 2022-23 in advance of both schools joining the conference in July of 2023.
- SMU will host the AAC Championships (February 15-18) and two of the Owls' final three regular-season dual competitions will be in the Mustangs home pool. Rice will also compete in the SMU Pre-Conference Time Trial on February 4.
- Rice's last competition at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium was on 1/9/21 when the Owls topped the Mustangs 155-106 in a dual meet.
- Rice and SMU swimmers currently own the top times in The American in 13 of the 17 events on this weekend's program. Lauren McDougall (200 & 500 free) and Zoe Spitz (100 & 200 back) each have the top time in a pair of events while Arielle Hayon (200 fly) and Ella Dyson (1,000 free) lead the conference in one event. Rice has also posted the top conference marks in the 200 & 400 medley relays.
- Spitz set school records with her conference-leading times in the 100 (53.34) and 200 back (1:55.77) as did Hayon in the 200 fly (1:56.64) and the two joined with McDougall and Lily Cramer to post the third-fastest 400 medley relay at Rice to lead the league (3:38.78).
- Spitz (10/25) and Hayon (11/22) earned weekly honors from The American in the fall.
- Rice captured the 2022 CSCAA College National Open Water Championship in December and Dyson captured the individual title followed by Amelia Kane (8th), Shannon Campbell (9th) and Elizabeth Myers (19th).
