The Owls (8-1) continue their seven-match homestand this weekend when they welcome in the Kansas St. Wildcats (9-2) and No. 17 Creighton Blue Jays (9-2) this weekend to Tudor Fieldhouse for the Rice Adidas Invitational II.

- Rice is receiving votes (73) in the most recent AVCA Coaches Top-25 Poll, a fourth consecutive week to open the season. The Owls are the first team sitting outside the Top-25.
- The Owls (8-1) are currently ranked No. 21 in the RPI Rankings (thru Sept. 12) while Creighton is No. 22. Kansas State checks in at No. 56.
- Junior libero Nia McCardell became just the third player in league history to win a third consecutive C-USA Defensive Player of the Week award on Monday, joining Charlotte's Amani McArthur (2020-21) and WKU's Sydney Engle (2017). The Missouri City, Texas native put together a historic performance in Rice's win over Texas Tech, collecting a career-high 36 digs to tie former Owl Nicci Yarber (1989) for the third-most digs in a single match in program history. McCardell ranks 8th in the NCAA (1st in C-USA) this season in digs per set (5.45).
- As a team the Owls currently rank third in the NCAA in digs per set (18.00) and are 24th in opponents hitting percentage (.145). Rice and Creighton are the only two teams in the NCAA this season to record 100+ digs in a single match twice.
- With their win over Texas Tech last Saturday, the Owls are now 10-9 against Power-5 schools dating back to 2019.
