Joins the Owls on August 8
Rice Athletics announced on Wednesday the addition of Ryan Hall as the Owls' Associate AD of Development. Hall will spearhead the Owl Club's annual giving initiatives, donor events, and stewardship. He will begin his duties on August 8.
"We are thrilled to welcome Ryan and his family to Rice Athletics," said Tanner Gardner, Senior Associate AD / Chief Operating Officer. "Ryan is personable, passionate, and committed, and I have no doubt he will serve our supporters well as he raises resources in support of our student-athletes."
"I want to thank Dr. Karlgaard, Tanner Gardner, and the entire hiring committee for believing in me to assume this special position at such a phenomenal school and athletic department," Hall stated. "I could not be more excited to get to Houston. I look forward to meeting all of the proud and passionate alumni and supporters of Rice Athletics as we continue to raise the bar for our top-notch student-athletes, department, and university. Go Owls!"
Hall comes to South Main from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana where he served as the Associate Athletics Director for External Operations and Executive Director of the Demons Unlimited Foundation. Hall oversaw all marketing, ticketing corporate sponsorship and development efforts while also serving as the Major Gifts Officer in addition to having oversight for the defending Southland Women's Soccer regular season and tournament champions, women's soccer program.
He was vital in helping NSU receive a $1.5 million gift, the largest single private gift to the athletic department as well as securing other major gifts during his tenure. Hall's efforts allowed the NSU Demon Unlimited Foundation Annual Fund to reach the highest level in school history at $345,000 and saw growth for the N-Club in both membership and dollars for the department.
Hall came to Northwestern State from Mayville State in Mayville, North Dakota where he served as the Comets' Director of Athletics. He developed the first athletic sponsorship program for the university, netting $330,000 and the first sport-specific alumni club at the school (the White Hat Club) which raised over $160,000. He negotiated a five-year contract with Nike and BSN Sports and oversaw the facelift of Lewy Lee gymnasium.
He began his career in athletic administration at Benedictine Prep in Richmond, Virginia, starting as an associate athletic director before serving five years at the athletic director. In his tenure at the school, he raised more than $100,000 annually.
A graduate of Ferrum College who received his master's in sport leadership from VCU, Hall was a three-time Virginia Independent School Athletic Association wrestling coach of the year at Benedictine Prep, leading the school to four state titles and one top ten national ranking.
Prior to joining the staff at Benedictine Prep, Hall began his professional career as a sports marketing executive for ESPN 950 in Richmond.
He will make his home in Houston with his wife Lindsey of 14 years and children O.J. (9), Berkeley (7), Brooklyn (2), and McGregor (5 months).
