Rice Collects Conference USA Institutional Excellence Award

DALLAS — Rice student-athletes earned the school's 14th Conference USA Institutional Excellence Award in 17 years in the conference, posting a combined GPA of 3.404 while seven sports were honored for their GPA during the 2021-22 academic year.

The Institutional Excellence Award is given to the C-USA institution with the highest GPA during each academic year for all student-athletes in conference-sponsored sports.

The Sport Academic Awards honor the team in each conference-sponsored sport with the highest GPA for the academic year. Rice led the league as seven different teams recorded the highest GPA for their respective sports with the Owls' baseball, men's basketball, men's cross country, women's cross country, football, and men's and women's track and field all honored.

Women's cross country, football, and men's track and field were repeat honorees from 2021. Football, women's cross country and men's track and field earned the award for the eighth straight year.

Rice has received 109 C-USA Sport Academic Awards in its 17 year Conference USA history.
