
Owls Place Three on C-USA Cross Country All-Academic team

Balandran, Cohen and Dowd honored for excellence in academics and athletics
Alyssa Balandran, Daniel Cohen, Travis Dowd were among 12 cross-country student-athletes who were honored for their combined excellence in the classroom and in competition as members of the 2022 C-USA Cross Country All-Academic team.
Dowd is a repeat honoree while Balandran and Cohen were honored for the first time.
Dowd has maintained a 3.92 GPA in Bioengineering while earning all-conference honors with a 21st-place place finish at the C-USA Championship and finished 46th at the NCAA South Central Regional. Earlier this season, he earned C-USA Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week after helping lead the Owls to a team victory at the season-opening Rice Invitational by winning the overall individual title. He also finished fourth at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede
Balandran graduated Cum Laude from Rice in the spring of 2022 with a 3.91 GPA in Psychological Sciences, Sports Medicine, and Exercise Physiology and earned All-Conference USA honors after finishing 13th at the C-USA Championship. She finished eighth at the Rice Invitational and 11th out of 96 runners at the Texas A&M Invitational
Cohen carries a 3.92 GPA while majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He finished seventh at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede and 9th at the Rice Invitational helping spark the Owls to team titles at both events and finished 49th at the NCAA South Central Regional.
