The No. 22 ranked and second-seeded Owls open the 2022 Conference USA Tournament against seventh-seed FIU on Friday.
- The Owls will be in search of an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament from Conference USA by winning the C-USA Championship this weekend in Bowling Green, Ky. The No. 2 seeded Owls will open against FIU Friday evening. Rice has twice (2009 and 2018) won the C-USA tournament and has appeared in the title match seven times, including the last four years.
- The Owls came in at No. 22 in the latest AVCA Top-25 Coaches Poll. They are also 17th in the NCAA's latest RPI rankings.
- Rice junior libero Nia McCardell currently leads Conference USA in digs per set, averaging 4.84, which is 33rd in the country. Fifth-year middle blocker Anota Adekunle leads C-USA with a 42.8% hitting percentage, good for sixth in the nation.
- As a team the Owls currently rank 21st in the NCAA in digs per set (16.66) and are 30th in opponents hitting percentage (.168). The Owls have held 20 of 26 opponents below a hitting percentage of .200 or worse this season.
- Dating back to 2014 the Owls are 105-21 (.833) in Conference USA play, which includes a 60-4 (.938) record the last three seasons. Rice is 39-1 in C-USA regular season contests dating back to the 2019 season.
