
Benson, Kejriwal Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District

HOUSTON, Texas — Rice senior golfers Jake Benson and Rishi Kejriwal were named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 7 First Team, announced by the organization Thursday morning.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early August.
They become the first golfers to earn the honor since Erik Mayer in 2011. It is also the first time that Rice Golf has had multiple members of the team.
One of four golfers to participate in all eight team events, Benson finished third on the team with a 76.00 stroke average. He tied for the team lead with six rounds of par or better, while leading the squad with four rounds in the 60's. At the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, he had a season-best tie for 16th-place finish.
A four-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll, Benson was named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar in 2020.
Kejriwal was also one of four golfers to participate in all eight team events, averaging 77.30 strokes per round. At the Trinity Forest Invitational, he carded a season-low 72 in the second round to for 28th-place finish.
He is four-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and three time C-USA Academic Medalist. He was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team this year while being named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar in 2020.
