Zoe Spitz Named C-USA Swimmer of the Week

HOUSTON — Rice swimmer Zoe Spitz was named Conference USA Swimmer of the Week, Wednesday afternoon by the league office.
Spitz set personal bests while sweeping the backstroke events in the Owls' dual meet with No.25 Texas A&M, highlighted by posting the fastest time in the conference in the 200 backstroke. Spitz knocked nearly a second off her previous best in the 100 backstroke, breaking the 54-second mark and finishing in 53.96. In the 200 back, she touched the wall in a conference-leading 1:57.41, bettering her previous best of 1:58.30.
