Rice Athletics Scholarship Fund
Rice Owl Club, the fundraising arm of Rice Athletics, has launched the Rice Athletics Scholarship Fund (RASF) a new annual scholarship fund restricted to providing scholarship support for the Owls' student-athletes.
Rice Athletics is committed to funding the maximum number of scholarships and maximum cost of attendance permitted by the NCAA for all 16 sports the Owls sponsor. New NCAA legislation over the past several years have led to increased costs associated with tuition, educational fees, books, and room and board. In addition to these rising costs, the financial impact of extended eligibility for student-athletes as a result of COVID-19 will increase the need for scholarship support more than ever before.
Funds raised through the RASF go directly to these scholarship expenses, offsetting the overall scholarship funding needed for the athletics department. Until the scholarship endowment is fully funded, private philanthropic support of the RASF is crucial to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of Rice Athletics.
"The Rice Athletics Scholarship Fund will serve as vital tool in providing a world-class experience for our student-athletes," said Mike Melendez, Rice Senior Associate AD and Chief Development Officer. "The RASF allows our supporters to directly support the scholarship needs of our student-athletes, which previously was only available to those who could establish an endowment. Excellence in the classroom and in competition is the standard for our student-athletes at Rice. Every dollar raised through the RASF will help carry on that tradition," he added.
Gifts to the RASF are not eligible for Owl Club Athletic Fund benefits. Every gift is 100% tax deductible.
Gifts can be made online at www.riceowlclub.com/RASF, over the phone (713-348-8425) or by mailing a check to:
