Swimmers Hold 2nd Place After Day 1 At C-USA Meet

After the meet's only two events held Wednesday, the Owl swimmers are in second place in the six team C-USA field with 68 points. Defending C-USA champ Florida International is in first with 80 points.
To open the meet the Owl foursome of Zoe Spitz, Brittany Bui, Nicole Limberg, and Becca Evans placed second in the 200-yard medley relay with a season-best time of 1:40.65. In the second event the Rice foursome of Marta Cano-Minarro, Claire Therien, Lindsay Mathys and Ellery Parish placed second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 7:13.01. Both the respective marks are among the Top 10 times in school history.
"We are looking forward to getting into the individual events tomorrow," said head coach Seth Huston.
The C-USA Championships continue in Atlanta through Saturday with two sessions each day. Preliminary races are at 9:30 am and event finals begin at 5 pm (Central Time).
