Home Opener to be closed to the public
HOUSTON — Rice Athletics has announced its four remaining men's basketball game times, Tuesday afternoon while also announcing that the home opener will be closed to the general public.
The Owls' three non-conference home games against LeTourneau (Dec. 3), Houston Baptist (Dec. 15) and Incarnate Word (Dec. 21), will all be played at 2 p.m. Also, its Feb. 6 Conference USA matchup versus Southern Miss is scheduled for 4 p.m. All games will be streamed at CUSAtv.
While fans will not be able to attend the home opener due to COVID-19 protocols and safety measures currently in place, the athletics department will continue to work with the Rice Crisis Management Team in hopes of developing a plan to safely welcome fans to future games. Information on the status of those games will be released at a later date.
Fans can still have their presence felt inside Tudor Fieldhouse this December by purchasing a cutout to be displayed in the arena. Visit RiceOwls.co/fancutouts for more information.
Rice enters Thursday's season opener with a 2-0 record, defeating Incarnate Word, 68-53, and Our Lady of the Lake, 103-64, at the Thanksgiving Invitational in San Antonio. It is the first time Rice has started 2-0 since the 2011-12 season.
