Junior helped Owls improve to 13-1 on season
DALLAS – Rice junior outside hitter Nicole Lennon was recognized yet again by Conference USA on Monday, earning a record-breaking fifth consecutive Offensive Player of the Week award following a pair of Owls wins over the weekend.
Lennon joined WKU's Jessica Lucas (2017-Setter of the Week) as the only players in league history to win five consecutive Player of the Week awards (regardless of categories). The Katy, Texas native continued to be an offensive force for the No. 22 Owls (13-1, 2-0) over the weekend, totaling 36 kills over six sets (6.00 kps) while hitting a sensational .338 from the outside.
Lennon totaled 14 kills on 29 attacks (.345) in a 3-0 victory over UTEP on Friday, followed by a stellar 22-kills (.333) effort in a road sweep at North Texas on Sunday. Over the first week of league play, Lennon totaled more kills than any player in C-USA and had the best kills per set rate by an entire kill.
In addition to her offense, Lennon also collected double-figure digs in each match for her eighth and ninth double-doubles of the season, respectively.
The Owls will put the nation's fourth-longest active home win streak (16) on the line this Friday, Oct. 4 when they host UTSA (9-6, 2-0) at 6 p.m.
