Third player in league history to accomplish feat
DALLAS – Following another pair of stellar performances, Rice junior outside hitter Nicole Lennon became just the third player in Conference USA history to be named Offensive Player of the Week for a fourth consecutive week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Lennon joins Dajana Boskovic (UTSA, 2015) and McKenzie Adams (UTSA, 2013) as the only players in the league's 25-year history to take home four straight Offensive Player of the Week honors.
The Katy, Texas native helped guide the Owls to a pair of victories over Big 12 opponents, including an upset over No. 3 Texas on Wednesday. The Owls followed that up with their 11th win of the season on Saturday with a sweep of TCU.
Lennon totaled 42 kills over eight sets (5.25 kps) for the week, all while hitting a sensational .319 from the outside. She also secured double-figure digs in each match for consecutive double-doubles. Against the Longhorns, Lennon led all players with 23 kills over five sets on 60 attacks, including four kills and the match-winner in set five. She then followed that up with 19 more kills over three sets in a sweep of the Horned Frogs, all while hitting a season-best .484.
Lennon leads all of C-USA in kills (215), kills per set (5.12), and points per set (5.40).
The Owls will put the nation's fourth-longest active home win streak (15) on the line this Friday when they open up C-USA play against UTEP (7-6) at 6 p.m.
