Rice Athletics plans to close out the summer of 2019 with family friendly events to include the annual fall sports fan day and movie night at Rice Stadium on August 17th and 24th!
Owl Fest 2019, the free annual fan fest for Rice fall sports, is slated for Saturday, August 17th at 11:00 a.m.on the west concourse of Rice Stadium. The Owls will host an open scrimmage for the football team followed by autographs members of the football, soccer, and volleyball team. The event will give members of the Rice Family their first chance to celebrate the start of the upcoming athletic season and meet and greet their favorite players and teams!
Other activities include a photo booth with Sammy the Owl, the Shop Rice Owls team apparel shop, and the Owls Kidz Zone, which will feature a ball toss inflatable, sidewalk chalk, and face painting. Members of Rice's spirit groups will also be on hand to heighten the Rice spirit and food trucks plus other vendors will be on hand with food, beverages and free Topo Chico. Upon the conclusion of the autograph sessions, fans and student-athletes will be able to move down to the field at Rice Stadium for sports themed games. Throughout the event the Rice Ticketing staff will be available at the Fan Services Table to help fans lock in their seats for the action this upcoming year.
Admission to Owl Fest is free as is parking in the Greenbriar Lot on the west side of the stadium. Gates open shortly after 10:00 a.m. for those who wish to see more of the football scrimmage.
Starlight Movie Night will help end the summer at historic Rice Stadium on Saturday, August 24th with a free showing of Incredibles 2. Join us for a family friendly night out before school is back in session! Those in attendance should plan to arrive as gates open at 7:30 p.m. with the Incredibles 2 beginning at 8:00 p.m. Guests are welcome to bring their own blanket, refreshments, and snacks but no glass containers, gum, and pets please. Parking will be available in the Greenbriar Lot near the stadium (credit card only).
