DALLAS – For the second time this season Rice's Brittany Bui has been named the Conference USA Swimmer of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday (Nov. 26). All C-USA weekly awards are presented by Top of the World Headwear.
Bui won two individual events and swam three season-best relays for the Owls last week at the Phil Hansel Invitational. Bui won the 100-yard butterfly over a starting field of 73 entries after a career-best prelim time of 53.42 that provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships. The Houston, Texas, native won the 200-butterfly over 67 entries with a career-best, NCAA provisional time of 1:57.60. Both marks are currently the best in Conference USA and her 200-fly time is tied for the 27th fastest in Division I so far this season. She also swam the butterfly leg of both of Rice's medley relays that posted a 1:41.65 in the 200 and a 3:43.07 in the 400. To round out the weekend Bui registered the year's 3rd fastest C-USA mark in the 200-IM (2:01.89) and she contributed a 56.70 in the 100-backstroke. For the three-day Hansel Invitational she led the Owls in scoring with a total of 84 points.
