HOUSTON - Out to their best start (14-1) through 15 matches in program history, the No. 21 Rice Owls volleyball team returns to the hardwood this weekend for a pair of home matches, facing both Southern Miss (Friday) and Middle Tennessee (Sunday) at Tudor Fieldhouse.
The Owls last competed on Oct. 4 when they recorded their fourth straight sweep with a three-set victory over UTSA and gave Rice head coach Genny Volpe her 300th career win. Rice holds a 15-7 all-time advantage over Southern Miss and is 6-2 against Middle Tennessee. Both teams are still in search of their first conference victory.

- The Owls are ranked No. 9 in the first NCAA RPI rankings of the season, the highest mark in program history.
- Rice is currently tied with SFA for the third-longest active home win streak in the nation, having won 17 consecutive matches dating back to last season.
- The Owls are in the AVCA Top-25 for a third consecutive week, coming in at No. 21 for a second straight week.
- The Owls currently rank Top-20 in the NCAA in kills per set (8th-14.52), winning percentage (9th-.933), assists per set (11th-13.29), digs per set (11th-17.71) and opponent's hitting percentage (.151).
- Junior outside hitter Nicole Lennon ranks sixth in the NCAA in kills per set (5.16), seventh in points per set (5.48), 15th in attacks per set (12.18) and 20th in total attacks (263).
- Senior libero Lee Ann Cunningham ranks second in C-USA with 4.75 digs per set and fifth in total digs (127). Cunningham currently ranks eighth among active NCAA Division I players in career digs with 1,912. Last week she surpassed Tracey Lam for the most digs in Rice history during the 25-point scoring rally era.
- Sophomore middle blocker Anota Adekunle ranks third in C-USA in hitting percentage (.408) while senior middle blocker Grace Morgan is fifth (.344).
