Rice Places Three in Top 20 at Magnolia Amateur

Hattiesburg, Miss. — Rice placed three golfers in the top 20 at the sixth annual Magnolia Amateur, held July 7-9 at Hattiesburg Country Club in Hattiesburg, Miss.
Rice signee Rishi Kejriwal earned his second top 10 finish of the summer, tying for eighth-place at one-under par. Kejriwal opened with a 70 before following with a 74. He closed the tournament with a three-under 68, his best round of the tournament.
Senior Mitchell Meissner, in his first tournament of the summer, tied for 13th-place. He began the tournament with a 70. After firing a 75, the San Antonio native fired a two-under 69 to finish one-over par for the tournament.
Senior Mario Carmona earned his third straight top 20 finish, tying for 20th-place at three-over par. The Houston native opened with rounds of 76-72, but finished with a three-under 68.
Sophomore Nicholas Duggan and incoming transfer Mason Weld both tied for 33rd-place at five-over par. Both golfers began the tournament with a 75. Duggan closed 72-71 while Weld finished 71-72.
In the team competition, Rice tied for second-place at even par with TCU and Houston, three strokes behind team champion Mississippi.
