Carmona Ties for Fifth at Mexican Amateur

Campeche, Mexico — Junior golfer Mario Carmona tied for fifth-place at the 2017 Mexican Amateur, played this past weekend at Campeonato Nacional de Aficionados Country Club in Campeche, Mexico.

Carmona was one of just seven golfers to finish under par, finishing the four day tournament at one-under par. The Houston native opened play with a one-under 71 on Thursday. He then made the cut by shooting an even par 70 on Friday.

On Saturday, Carmona opened three-under through the first seven sevens, recording an eagle on the opening first before closing the day with a two-under 70. He closed the tournament with a 74 to finish one-under.

For the week, Carmona recorded 12 birdies. He continues his summer season this weekend at the Southwestern Amateur in Scottsdale, Ariz.
