Duggan Advances to U.S. Open Sectional Qualifier

San Antonio, Texas -- Rice golfer Nicholas Duggan, who just finished his freshman season, defeated Rice signee Rishi Kejriwal on the second playoff hole of the U.S. Open local qualifier, played at Riverhill Country Club in San Antonio, to advance to the sectional qualifying.

Duggan advances to sectional qualifying on June 5 at Lakewood Country Club in Dallas. Kejriwal will serve as the first alternate.

Duggan and Kejriwal shot a one-under 71 to tie for the fourth and final spot, forcing a playoff. After they each parred the first playoff hole, Kejriwal bogeyed the second while Duggan made par to advance.

Sectionals will consist of 36 holes.
