Carmona Ties for Fourth at Ram Masters Invitational

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Junior Mario Carmona fired a final round 69 to finish two-under par in a tie for fourth-place at the Ram Masters Invitational, played at the par-70, 7,218-yard Fort Collins Country Club.
Carmona's fourth-place finish is the third top-five finish of his career. The 69 is his second round of par or better this year and the 15th of his career. It's also the second round in the 60's this year and the fifth of his career. The Houston, Texas native also set a career-low with a 54-hole score of 208.
As a team, the Owls moved up four spots to sixth-place. Rice carded a final round 281 to finish 22-over par.
"The guys played a pretty good round today and in the last 36 holes we made up a lot of ground," said head coach Justin Emil. "We still left a few shots out on the course coming down the stretch but the finishing holes at Fort Collins Country Club were playing very difficult today. The guys are becoming more and more confident every round and believing more and more each time we compete."
Senior Kevin Reilly fired a career-best four-under par 66 to finish in eighth-place at one-over par. The 66 is his second round of par or better this year and the 32nd of his career. It is also the second round in the 60's this year and the 13th of his career. Reilly now has nine career top 10 finishes.
Freshman Trevor Brown carded a 72 to finish 11-over par in a 46th-place tie. Junior Mitchell Meissner tied for 52nd-place at 12-over par after closing with a 74 and freshman Nicholas Duggan tied for 70th-place at 17-over par after finishing with a 75.
Colorado State won the team tournament at four-over par, seven strokes in front of runner-up Nevada. CSU's Blake Cannon earned medalist honors at seven-under par, four-strokes in front of Air Force's Brenden Bone and Nevada's Kaleb Gorbahn.
Rice returns to the links Oct. 10-11 when it co-hosts the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, at Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland.
