
Reilly Qualifies for U.S. Amateur

HOUSTON, Texas — Kevin Reilly, who will be a senior on the Rice golf team this fall, finished in the top three of the U.S. Amateur qualifying tournament played at the Panther Lake Golf Course at Orange County National in Orlando, Fla., to advance to next month's national tournament.
Reilly opened the tournament with a 68. He closed the tournament with a 69 for a two-round score of 137 (-7) to finish in third-place.
Reilly, along with Florida State's Cristobal Del Solar and Karl Vilips of Australia, has qualified for the U.S. Amateur which will be played Aug. 15-21 at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
This will be the second time that Reilly will participate in the U.S. Amateur, having also qualified in 2013.
Reilly joins teammates Mario Carmona and Mitchell Meissner as Owls who will participate in the national championship.
Past champions of the U.S. Amateur include Bobby Jones, Phil Mickelson, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods.
