
Golf Signee Brown Takes Second at Western Junior Championship

Royal Oak, Mich. -- Rice golf signee Trevor Brown finished in second-place at the 99th Western Junior Championship, played at Red Run Golf Club in Royal Oak, Mich.
With his runner-up finish, Brown earned an exemption to the Western Amateur Championship, held August 1-6 at the Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Ill.
Brown finished the tournament eight-under par. The Austin native opened the round with a 69. He then carded a 72. On the final day, in which the golfers played 36 holes, Brown closed the tournament with a 69-70 to finish with a 72-hole score of 280.
For the tournament, Brown recorded 23 birdies and 35 pars.
Past winners of the Western Junior Championship include Rickie Fowler, Hunter Mahan, Jim Furyk and Patrick Rodgers
