
Meissner Ties for Seventh at Steelwood Collegiate Invitational

Loxely, Ala. -- Junior Mitchell Meissner fired his second straight 69 to finish two-under in a tie for seventh-place at the fall-ending Steelwood Collegiate Invitational.
The San Antonio, Texas native recorded his fifth round of par or better this year and the 17th of his career. It is also his third round of the year in the 60's and the fourth of his career.
Rice closed the tournament with a 291 to finish 19-over par in eighth-place.
"We were very close to passing a few teams today," said head coach Justin Emil. "Mitchell (Meissner) played very well and carried the team this week. We'll take a break over the winter and get ready for the spring season."
Junior Mario Carmona closed with an even-par 72 to finish in a 24th-place tie at three-over par. The 72 is Carmona's team-leading sixth round of par or better this year and the 19th of his career.
Freshman Trevor Brown tied for 41st-place at nine-over par after closing with an even-par 72. Brown now has four rounds of par or better on the year.
Junior Kevin Reilly and freshman Nicholas Duggan tied for 59th-place after being disqualified yesterday. Duggan shot a 78 today while Reilly carded a 79.
Kennesaw State won the team competition at 27-under par. KSU's Connor Coffee took home medalist honors at 12-under par, four strokes in front of teammate Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero.
The Owls will take the winter off before opening the spring season Feb. 17-19 at the All-American Intercollegiate in Humble.
