Owls Take Fourth at Bayou City Collegiate Classic

PEARLAND, Texas — Rice shot a final round 296 to finish six-over par in fourth-place at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, played at the par-72, 7,272 Golfcrest Country Club.
"We finished today's round poorly and it cost us a few spots, but we are showing our potential as a team that is very competitive each week," said head coach Justin Emil. "I'm extremely proud of the effort that our guys are giving."
Junior Mario Carmona finished with a 72 to tie for eighth-place at one-under par. He now has a team-high five rounds of par or better on the year and 18 in his career.
Freshman Trevor Brown shot a 71 to finish in a career-best 15th-place. His 54-hole total of 217 is a season-best and he now has three rounds of par or better.
Junior Mitchell Meissner tied for 30th-place at four-over par after closing with a 79. Senior Kevin Reilly carded a 74 to finish five-over par in a tie for 34th-place.
Sophomore Will Voetsch, who played as an individual, tied for 39th-place at six-over par after closing with a 77. Senior Alex Levy posted a final round 74 to tie for 44th-place at seven-over par. Sophomore Grant Rogers tied for 56th-place at 10-over par after finishing with a 77. Freshman Nick Duggan tied for 58th-place at 11-over par after closing with an 81 and junior Jay Burlison finished with an 83 to finish in 78th-place at 21-over par.
Kansas won the team title at 12-under par, 17 strokes in front of Houston and UT Arlington. Lamar's Mans Berglund won the individual title at nine-under par.
The Owls close the fall season on Oct. 29-30 when it travels to Mobile, Ala., for the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational.
