
Swimmers Conclude Second Day at NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Rice wrapped-up Friday's second day of action at the NCAA Swim Championships finishing 29th in the 200-medley relay, while Casey Clark placed 25th among a field 57 individual entries in the 100-butterfly.
The Rice 200-medley relay of Alicia Caldwell, Rachel Moody, Clark and Marissa Konicke posted a time 1:40.32 in the morning prelims and did not advance to evening finals. The Owls would have needed to go faster than 1:37.59 to make the top 16.
Less than an hour later Clark came back and competed as an individual in the 100-fly. She finished 25th in the nation with a prelim time of 52.48. The top 16 cut to advance to evening finals was 52.17. The winner of Clark's heat in the 100-fly, Kelsi Worrell of Louisville, set the American record in the event with an eye-opening 49.89.
Clark is not finished at the NCAA's. The senior standout from Spring, Texas, is one of 74 entries scheduled to swim the 100-freestyle on Saturday (March 21).
