GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Senior Casey Clark finished 54th in the nation in the 100-freestyle to close-out Rice's participation in the NCAA Swim Championship in Greensboro, N.C.
Clark posted a steady 49.61 in the prelims. The cutoff to make the Top 16 was 48.59.
The standout from Spring, Texas, represented Rice in three individual events and one relay at the NCAAs. On Friday she placed 25th among a field 57 individual entries in the 100-butterfly with a 52.48. With an eye on the bigger picture, Clark naturally wanted to do even better but sees the whole experience as a positive.
"Competing at NCAAs and representing Rice at the national level is truly an honor," Clark said. "It is incredibly humbling to go against some of the worlds fastest swimmers and watch these amazing athletes compete.
"Personally, I did not go any best times at this meet, but I felt that I swam smart race strategies and ended up not too far off of my personal and season bests," she added. "To be able to show up, compete and be in the running for finalling is such an honor."
