GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Casey Clark closed-out the Owls' lone entry on the opening day of the NCAA Swim Championships Thursday morning in Greensboro, N.C.
Clark finished 52nd in the nation in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.95. The native of Spring, Texas, is more of a butterfly specialist, but competed in the all-out freestyle sprint after provisionally qualifying for the NCAAs at last month's C-USA Championships. Clark's 22.73 at the C-USA meet was the best mark in the conference all season.
The Owl veteran is back in action on Friday. Clark competes as an individual in the 100-butterfly where she is the nation's No. 15 seed. She is also scheduled to swim the butterfly leg of the Owls' 200-medley relay. Rice's relay is the No. 11 seed overall and looking to become the first Owl relay to score at the national meet in 14 years.
