IRVING, Texas – Rice sophomore Kiley Beall has been named the Conference USA Swimmer of the Week for Dec. 1-7, the league office announced Tuesday (Dec. 8) from its headquarters in Irving, Texas.
In last weekend's home dual meet against No. 2 ranked Texas A&M, Beall won the 100-yard butterfly over a field of 11 competitors with a time of 56.77. The Lexington Park, Maryland, native was also Rice's top finisher in the 100-yard backstroke (56.84) and rounded out the meet by competing for the Owls on a pair of relays.
Beall currently holds the C-USA top time in the 100-yard fly with a time of 54.56, a NCAA provisional mark set back on Nov. 20. She also ranks in the league's top five in two other individual events.
This is the second time this season for Beall to be recognized as the C-USA Swimmer of the Week after also earning the honor on Oct. 27. Three different Rice swimmers have now been named the C-USA Swimmer of the Week a total of four times, with Beall (twice), Kaitlyn Swinney (Oct. 27) and Alicia Caldwell (Nov. 25).
