Golf Set to Compete at Quail Valley Intercollegiate

HOUSTON—The Rice men's golf team will head to Vero Beach Fla., for the third annual Quail Valley Intercollegiate, hosted by McNeese State. The tournament will be played at the par 72, 7,350-yard Quail Valley Golf Club.
Joining the Owls in the tournament are Connecticut, Indiana, Jacksonville, Louisiana Tech, host McNeese State, Memphis, Michigan State, Mississippi State, North Carolina State, North Florida, North Texas, South Dakota State, Stephen F. Austin and West Virginia.
"This weekend marks the final stretch of our fall season so our goal is a strong finish and some momentum heading into the off season," said Rice head coach Justin Emil. "The team showed some progress at the Bayou City, but we still left a ton of shots out on the course."
Mario Carmona will lead the Owls in the No. 1 position. The Houston, Texas, native leads the team with a 73.00 stroke average. He is coming off a 16th-place tie at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic.
Kevin Reilly will tee off in the No. 2 position. The junior is second on the team averaging 73.33 strokes per round and is coming off a ninth-place tie at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic.
In the No. 3 position will be James Lee. The senior is averaging 73.67 strokes per round. Freshman Will Voetsch will tee off in the No. 4 position and is averaging 75.00 strokes while senior Trey Johnson will tee off in the No. 5 position and is averaging 75.33 strokes.
