PEARLAND--Kevin Reilly fired a two-under 70 to finish two-over par, tied for ninth-place at the inaugural Bayou City Collegiate Classic, played at the par-72, 7,272-yard Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland.
It is Reilly's seventh career top ten finish and the first since the Ram Masters Invitational last fall. The 70 is also his second round of par or better this year and the 24th of his career.
Rice shot a final round 293 to finish 28-over par in seventh-place.
"The team is really close and they showed it this week," said Rice head coach Justin Emil. "Kevin (Reilly) and Mario (Carmona) had nice finishes and we also had a couple good rounds from our individuals. The guys did a good job of grinding this week. I'm really proud to see us get a little better each round. I was proud to see Jay (Burlison) finish strong after a tough day yesterday. These next two tournaments should be exciting."
Mario Carmona had the best finish of his career, tying for 16th-place at five-over par after closing with a 75. It is also his third career top-20 finish.
James Lee carded a 75 to finish nine-over par, tied for 37th-place. Will Voetsch, playing as an individual, fired a career-best 71, his first career round of par or better, to tie for 45th-place at 11-over par.
Trey Johnson, playing as an individual, tied for 56th-place at 13-over par after posting a final round 82. Jay Burlison tied his season-low with a 73 to finish 14-over par in 59th-place and Alex Levy finished 20-over in a tie for 68th-place after a final round 78.
Houston won the team competition at six-over par, two strokes ahead of North Texas. UH's Matt Dunn defeated McNeese State's Robert MacIntyre in a two-hole playoff to win medalist honors.
The Owls return to the links in two weeks when they travel to Vero Beach, Fla., for the Quail Valley Intercollegiate, Oct. 26-27.
