Conference USA Golf Championship Final Results
TEXARKANA, Ark. - Rice could not make up any ground on the field, shooting a 310 team score on Tuesday to place 11th at the Conference USA Golf Championship held this week at Texarkana Country Club. The Owls finished with a 915 score for the tournament.
"Today was a difficult day for the Owls," said Rice golf coach Justin Emil. "After a great second round on Monday we put ourselves in position to move up the leaderboard, but we didn't get off to a very good start and couldn't recover from that.
"Overall I am very proud of these young men," he added. "They have been through a lot this season and I am encouraged by their progress."
Rice freshman Tommy Economou carded a final-round 78 to finish the tournament with a three-round 227 score (+11) and finish 38th. Sophomore Jeff Wibawa fired a final-round 73 to finish with a 229 (+13) and finish 41st.
No. 40 Memphis held off a final-day charge by defending champion UCF and captured the team championship by two strokes. The Tigers shot an even par 288 on Tuesday to finish with a three-round 859 (-5). UCF shot a 287 on Tuesday to finish second with an 861.
