2012 Border Olympics Final Results
The Rice golf team wrapped up six tournament rounds of golf this week, carding a final round 307 and finishing 12th at the 2012 Border Olympics on Saturday. Rice, which competed at the Argent Financial Classic on Monday and Tuesday, logged over 1,200 miles during the week.
Rice sophomore Jeff Wibawa carded a final round 74 to finish with a three-round 226 score (+10) to lead the Owls with an individual tie for 34th. Freshman Tommy Economou shot a 79 on Saturday to finish with a 228 and tie for 42nd.
Lamar held on to its 36-hole lead, shooting a final round 288 to finish six-over for the tournament (870) and claim the team title by five strokes over second place Baylor. The Cardinals' MJ Daffue built on his second round lead, shooting a final round 70 to finish with a 211 (-5) and win the individual title by two strokes. Louisiana-Lafayette's Philipp Fendt was second.
Rice is off for the next two weeks before returning to action at the Jim West Intercollegiate hosted by Texas State at the Victoria Country Club April 1-3.
