Women's Basketball Roars Past Chicago State 68-42

HOUSTON- Rice won its second consecutive game and improved to 3-1 at Tudor Fieldhouse this season with a 68-42 defeat of Chicago State. Jessica Kuster and Megan Palmer both posted double-doubles for the second straight game.
After Chicago State (1-8) tied the game at four, Rice (4-4) went on a 16-2 run to take a 20-6 lead midway through the first half, and did not look back. The Owls took a 32-11 lead into the break, holding the Cougars to no points over the last 8:12 of the second half.
The Owls extended their lead to as many as 32 in the second half, with the result never in doubt as Rice coasted to victory.
Rice's 26-point victory is the largest for the Owls this season. The Owls shot 43.9 percent from the floor, a season-high.
Jessica Kuster had her third consecutive double-double and her 15th consecutive double digit scoring game with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Megan Palmer posted a double-double for the second consecutive game with 14 points and 11 rebounds, the second double-double of her career.
Christal Porter scored a season-high 13 points, reaching double figures for the third time in her career. Nakachi Maduka also posted a season-high, with 11 points, and her second career double figure game.
The Owls return to action on Dec. 15, as Rice hosts the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks at 2 p.m. in Tudor Fieldhouse.
