Missouri Beats Rice 3-0 at Asics Classic

Malibu, Calif. - The Rice volleyball team dropped a hard-fought match to the Missouri Tigers 3-0 at the Asics Classic held at Pepperdine's Firestone Fieldhouse. Set scores were 25-18, 25-21, and 27-25. The Owls are now 2-3 on the season, while Missouri goes to 5-0.
Junior outside hitter Ashleigh McCord led all attackers with 18 kills and a .324 hitting percentage. Nancy Cole also had 7 kills and Mariah Riddlesprigger had 6 kills.
Paola Ampudia led Missouri with 15 kills, while Lisa Henning contributed 14 kills and Brittney Brimmage added 11 kills.
Missouri as a team pounded 54 kills with a .354 hitting percentage. The Owls smacked 44 kills for a .270 hitting percentage.
The Owls will face Eastern Washington later Saturday evening to wrap the weekend's action.
