
Rice Falls to Arizona 84-57

HOUSTON - Rice suffered its first home court loss of the season, dropping an 84-57 decision Wednesday night to a hot-shooting Arizona team.
The Wildcats (6-1) shot 55.6 percent overall and made 11-of-26 three-point attempts in the win at Tudor Fieldhouse.
Despite foul trouble, Arizona forward Derrick Williams scored 18 points and pulled in 10 rebounds in just 24 minutes of play. Williams made eight-of-nine shots from the field and was perfect from the free throw line.
During a 22-4 run that saw the Wildcats go from an 8-8 tie to leading by 18 points, Arizona scored 11 second-chance points. The rally gave Arizona a 30-12 lead with 6:56 to play in the first half.
For the game, Arizona had 17, second-chance points and also scored 19 points off 13 Rice turnovers.
Rice (3-4) shot 37.5 percent from the field and made just 2-of-11 three-point attempts.
Rice sophomore forward Arsalan Kazemi led Rice with 17 points and six rebounds. Guard Tamir Jackson matched his season scoring average with 13 points while Connor Frizzelle contributed 11 points.
Rice continues a three-game home stand Saturday against Lamar. Tip-off at Tudor is 2 p.m.
