
Burrow Ends Run at U.S. Amateur

Rice University golfer Robert Burrow shot a nine-over par 79 Tuesday to finish with a two-round score of 155 (+15) at the 109th U.S. Amateur being played in Tulsa, Okla.
Burrow finished stroke play in a tie for 199th place out of 312 golfers. The two-round cut to advance on to match play at Southern Hills Country Club was a 148 (+8). Through stroke play, no player had a two-round score under par. Germantown, Tenn., native Tim Jackson was the top finisher with an even par 140.
Match play continues through Sunday.
Burrow now turns his attention to his junior season at Rice. The Owls open the fall season Sept. 21-22 at the UTA / Waterchase Invitational in Fort Worth.
