STILLWATER, Okla. -- Nationally-ranked Oklahoma State scored two goals in the both the first and second halves to claim a 4-0 win over the visiting Rice soccer team before a rowdy crowd of 1,388 fans Friday evening at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex in Stillwater, Okla.

The defeat was the Owls' first of the year as the team begins a stretch of three-straight games on the road. OSU forward Kasey Langdon scored both of the goals in the first half to build a 2-0 advantage. Krista Lopez and Yolanda Odenyo notched the scores in the second half.

OSU out-shot Rice in the game 28-6 and the Owls turned away 12 shots on-goal in the process. Rice sophomore Meghan Erkel posted a career-high 11 saves on the night, the third-highest total in school history and the most by an Owl goalkeeper in six years.

Sophomore midfielder Kate Edwards led the Owls with three shots. She had a header off a corner kick go just wide of the right post in the second half. Two freshmen forwards, Hope Ward of Kingwood and Amy Beger of St. Charles, Mo., made their first career starts for the Blue & Gray against the No. 17 team in the country. Friday's game also marked the return of junior defender Alexa Coralli to the field for the first time in two years.

Rice fell to 2-1-0 on the year. Oklahoma State remains undefeated at 3-0-0. The Owls conclude the weekend road swing with a game at the University of Oklahoma on Sunday. Start time against the Sooners is slated for 1 pm in Norman. Rice is at TCU on Sept. 12 before returning home to host Princeton on Sept. 14, the team's first home game in a three-week period.
