LAWRENCE, Kan. - Robert Burrow and Michael Buttacavoli both registered Top-20 finishes and the Owls made up some ground from Monday's play to shoot a 297 team score Tuesday and finish in a tie for eighth at the Kansas Invitational.
Buttacavoli led the Owls Tuesday with a one-under par 71 to finish with a three-round score of 222 and tie for 18th. Burrow, a sophomore transfer from Rhodes College, shot a 76 Tuesday to finish with a 220 and tie for 12th.
Rice had a 54-hole team score of 895 to tie Nebraska for eighth in the 16-team field. UC Davis shot a three-round team score of 865 to win the team title by eight strokes. TCU was second (873) while Kansas was third (882).
UC Davis' Austin Graham shot a 68 on Tuesday to win individual medalist honors by four strokes.
Rice returns to action Oct. 6-7 when the Owls travel to the Memphis Intercollegiate.
