Coming off an even-par round that propelled the team to a Top 10 finish last week at the Border Olympics, Rice will look for similar results Monday and Tuesday when the Owls travel to the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate.
The fifth annual event is hosted by Southeastern Louisiana on a David Toms' signature course which has been hailed as one of the top courses in Louisiana and one of the best new courses in the nation. The Carter Plantation course located in Springfield, La., will play at 7,049 yards and is a par 72.
The Rice squad will be paired with Louisiana Tech and Louisiana-Monroe for the first two rounds on Monday. The first day's play will be a shotgun start with teams playing 36 continuous holes. Tuesday's final round will have teams starting play off the No. 1 and No. 10 tees.
The 15-team field also includes Arkansas State, Belmont, Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Marquette, Middle Tennessee, New Orleans, Nicholls State, St. John's, Troy and Texas-San Antonio.
"This is another solid field," said Rice coach Drew Scott. "Middle Tennessee is very good as is Southeastern Louisiana and Marquette. We would like to continue the play we had in the final round of the tournament at Laredo."
The Owls shot an even-par 288 for their final round at last week's Border Olympics, which was the second-lowest team round of the day. Rice placed ninth at the tournament.
For the year, sophomore Christopher Brown leads the squad with a 73.36 stroke average. He has three, Top 20 finishes as well as one Top 10 placing this season.
