CORDOVA, Tenn. - Rice University's golf team finished in 10th place after the Wednesday's final round of Memphis Intercollegiate was rained out.
The Owls shot a 304 during Monday morning's round but rebounded to card a 298 team scorw later in the day. The squad has a two-round score of 602 and is just one stroke back of Ole Miss and Arkansas State which share eighth place. Just five strokes seperate fourth through 10th places heading into Tuesday's play.
Ohio State shot a two-round score of 588 and has a three stroke lead over second place Memphis going into Tuesday's final round at Colonial Golf Club.
Rice sophomore Michael Whitehead rebounded from a first-round score of 78 to shoot a one-under 71 during afternoon play to post the Owls' top, 36 hole finish. He heads into Tuesday's final round tied for 20th with a five-over score of 149.
Erik Petersen and Christopher Brown both finished Monday's play a stroke back of Whitehead and are part of a tie for 27th.
OSU's Vaughn Steele has a six-stroke lead over the field.
