Laredo, Texas -- The Rice Owls golf team currently sits in 14th place after day one of action at the Border Olympics held at the Laredo Country Club (72; 7,241) in Laredo, Texas. The Owls shot 299 and a 298 in round two for a 597 total.
"Under ripe conditions for low scores we just did not take advantage of the situation," commented Rice head coach Drew Scott. "In the second we should have been making birdies, but instead we made several mistakes."
Junior Addison Awe leads Rice at 146 after firing a 76 and a 70.
Lamar leads the 15-team field with a 21-under 555 score (285-270). UT-Arlington's Zack Reeves is atop the leader board with -7 137 (69-68).
