
Owls Three-Under at Pacific Invitational

The Rice golf team shot its lowest round of the year with a 285 (-3) at the Pacific Invitational in Stockton, Calif. at the Brookside Country Club (par 72; 6,777 yards). The Owls had three golfers under par after one round for the first time during this fall season. Leading the charge for head coach Drew Scott' Owls were a trio of sophomores. Christopher Brown is tied for ninth with a three-under score of 69, Zach Wilson is at minus two with a 70, and Michael Buttacavoli is one-under with a 71. Freshman Michael Whitehead was at 75 (+3) and freshman Tim Pawul shot a 78 (+6).
Kansas State leads after the first of three rounds with a 273 (-15). Marquette follows with a 275 (-13) and No. 1 ranked Charlotte is tied for third with UC-Davis at 278 (-10).
Nick Delio (CSU-Northridge) and Stefan Wiedergruen (Charlotte) lead all individuals with a six-under 66.
Round two of the Pacific Invitational continues on Tuesday with the third and final round on Wednesday.
